This program is unique because it is generously funded by associates and designed for associates. Dimes from the Heart is a critical lifeline of hope for associates who experience a home catastrophe or natural disaster, domestic violence, crime, incur significant medical or funeral expenses, need support to care for a family member, or for emergency travel.

As a company, we give back financially and via in-kind donations. We’re proud to set the tone in other ways, too; associates in our home office as well as our field leadership team take part in an annual Grand Give, in which we collectively volunteer over 1,500 hours throughout the community of Duluth.

We also recognize the importance of a work-life balance and often times, community involvement can be tough because work and life get so busy. To ensure our associates have an opportunity to give back, we’ve committed to a Pause Day each quarter – a way for associates to spend a work day volunteering or collaborating with co-workers on a project that has been put on the back burner, doing team building activities, or a combination of all three. On Pause Days, associates are encouraged to put on their out of the office message on so they are truly able to pause.

Furthermore, we love supporting our local colleges and universities and encourage all stores to get involved on campus to support the student body who add so much vitality to our hometowns.

Every year, our top store leaders have the opportunity to take part in Winspire, an all-expenses paid trip to an all-inclusive location where they can spend time relaxing, having fun, exploring, and collaborate with each other, including home office associates and our executive team.

We also have an annual Vision Awards ceremony at our home office, which recognizes associates who live and breathe our vision and values, have achieved great results, are team players, and creative thought provokers. Associates nominate one another for these great awards. Big ceremony events are always fun, but we also know it’s important to acknowledge our associates day in and day out – which is why we’ve implemented additional recognition opportunities like the Box of Awesome in our stores and our Star Performer Award at the home office.

We value curiosity and agility, so we devote significant resources to support our associates in their growth and development – personally and professionally.
